2020 was hard.
We locked down, we quarantined, we isolated, we stressed, and….. we ate.
We ate…..a lot. And our waistlines show it.
But enough is enough. It’s time to take our weight, and our HEALTH, back into our own hands. It won’t be easy, but I KNOW it can be done. Because I did it.
Last year, on February 24, 2020, I woke up feeling very odd. It wasn’t until my speech started slurring that I went to the Emergency Room and discovered I had experienced a stroke.
24 hours later, with an $8,000 bill in one hand, and a handful of pills in the other (plus instructions telling me I would need to take them for the rest of my life), I was released from the hospital.
I was DETERMINED to prove them wrong! I was NOT going to take pills forever!
So I modified the way I was eating and I started walking. And within 30 days….. I had dropped 18 lbs, my blood pressure was back to normal, I had ZERO lasting effects from my stroke, and most importantly….. I was once again, completely medication free.
So you see, I KNOW it can be done.
Why the weight loss challenge NOW? You ask?
Because 2020 happened!
Oh I did good until about Thanksgiving, But once the cases of Covid started spiking, and everyone was scared out of their wits, well Netflix, wine, and food became my trusted evening companions.
Since then, we’ve had hate crimes, riots, one weird election, even an attack on the United Stated Capitol! Not to mention the historic winter storms that are being felt all across the county, even as I type.
And meanwhile, Covid rages on.
It’s time. Enough is enough!!
Time to get BACK to some sense of normal. I know I can’t change the hate, or the virus, and especially the weather. Heck I can’t even change my own family’s eating habits….
But I can change ME.
And I do that by leaving the snacky foods alone, the take-out, the pizzas, the bread, and the wine. And go back to the eating plan I know works.
Time to get OFF my behind and move around again, gym or no gym.

You can do it for as long as you like, but I…… I am not stopping until I see 179 pounds on the scale. And I haven’t seen THAT number in a very, long, time.
