    The SAD American Diet

    Published: May 8, 2018 · Modified: May 8, 2023 by Chuck Underwood · 4 Comments

Add up the numbers and you have a pretty clear picture of America in the 21st Century.

Everywhere I go, I see more of those motorized carts puttering down the sidewalks, or zooming down the aisles of my favorite stores.

    Obesity and Diabetes are everywhere.

And the REALLY sad part?  It's not just America anymore.  It's wherever our fast food happens to be sold.

I don't care if you're Vegan, or Plant-Based, of Paleo, or Keto.......STOP the junk food madness!  And I'm not just talking McDonalds or Burger King here.  I'm talking about those processed "ready-to-eat-in-minutes" boxes all over your grocery store too.

Frozen pizzas, frozen lasagnas, frozen TV dinners, just microwave for 5 minutes and you have dinner.....

And seriously, do we really NEED Deep Fried Twinkies frozen in a box?  REALLY?

This is processed junk food and it's full of nothing more than salt, sugar, and fat.

    And now, so are we.

    Convenience is killing us

The answer to this dilemma is surprisingly easy:

Get BACK in the kitchen and learn to cook.  It's not that hard!

I've even started my own YouTube Channel to show you how easy it is.

    • You can buy Boil-in-Bag boxes of Rice (white or brown) and all you have to do is boil water!  Anyone can do that?  Right?
    • Now just microwave a bag of frozen veggies and mix together
    • Need a sauce to bring it all together?  Add a little Salsa, or maybe this Brown Gravy I make quite often.  How about a Stir Fry Sauce like this one?

Simple, quick, tasty, and with NONE of the salt, fat, or sugar you'd find in typical greasy take-out.

We CAN beat this America.  We absolutely can.

But it will take leaving that processed junk food alone, leaving the hamburgers, hot dogs, and fried chicken alone, and going back to our basic fruits, vegetables, beans, and starches.

    You know..... REAL food.

And if you think those foods sound boring, then you haven't taken a good look at my recipes then have you?

I cook 3 meals a day for my husband and I. We are retired and rarely go out to eat. I don't consider it a "treat" anymore since what we are served is never as good as what we have at home. I am making the stew from this website tonight and will have leftovers for 3 additional meals. That saves us money and also guarantees us that we won't be eating any MSG, too much sodium, and fats.

      We are lovin' being Vegan.
